Home » About this WebsiteThe Scope of a Revolutionary Invention
In a nutshell, this website is one big research project into the ideal behind what we call "revolutionary invention". Started shortly after the iPhone was announced, it became clear that there were no websites setting out to harness the frenetic flow of information and strategy surrounding the new device. For a company that had not entered the mobile space previously, this was clearly a unique opportunity. Moreover, somewhere in the bustle, many key points were being lost about the value of the contribution Apple was making. Humanity has enjoyed a seemingly endless procession of creations that have, over the ages, marked quantum leaps in the way we interact with our world. Some millenia since those first creations, man still plays the role of the eternal inventor, harnessing the power of creativity to master the world of the industrial age. With its iPhone, Apple has set about, in the words of Steve Jobs... to "REINVENT the PHONE". In Apple's case, what makes the claim somewhat credible, is it's remarkeable history with presenting ground-breaking technology to the consumers.
Currently, there are a myriad of new challenges that every new player must face in the global marketplace. The entire playing field at once becomes a true "battefield" laden with endless opponents, counter-strategies and perils. These modern forays are not fought by individuals however, but corporations engaged in violent wars of strategic aggression and domination often overlooked in public spheres. For such companies in the mobile phone space, an area marked by many as the future of personal computing and communication, the stakes could not be higher nor the consequences of marginalization more dire.
With its announcement in January of 2007, Apple chose to step into a crowded ring of confusion, immediately injecting a violent stab of simplicity into a landscape wrought with increasing levels of complication and compromise. For many of its corporate opponents, this bid for a slice of the multi-billion dollar market by such an able combatant, could *only* be interpreted as an "Act of War" to which they must rise and oppose. Thus was this website named, and its mission set before it.
Apart from marking a roadmap towards its own substantial reward, Apple identified a primal complaint in the hearts of cellphone users that had long gone unanswered. While even Apple CEO Steve Jobs admits that Apple is a newcomer, with its expanding media hub philosophy, it is clearly "changing the game" less in where the industry is headed, but more importantly, how it will get there.
myPhoneWar.com exists to document the iPhone roadmap for success and many of the detours and challenges that will be presented along the way. Whether customers of Apple or its many competitors, consumers will be richly rewarded by this new and agile mobile phone competitor. For many, due to obfuscation and misdirection by the market at large, it has become difficult to appreciate how much this offering will mean in the years to come. iPhoneWar will be there, however to add perspective and insight into that awakening.
